I went and revisited my old aksu skin a long time ago.
It took a while to get out, but here it is :]
To switch between clean and damaged skins, edit the vmt file from:
"$basetexture" "models\weapons\v_models\thanez.aks74u\f1_d"
"$bumpmap" "models\weapons\v_models\thanez.aks74u\f1_dn"
to:
"$basetexture" "models\weapons\v_models\thanez.aks74u\f1_c"
"$bumpmap" "models\weapons\v_models\thanez.aks74u\f1_cn"
